Our story

A 1995 Kingston horse trailer, reborn.

Wildfire Sauna is a family owned and operated business. Hello, my name is Frederick and I run Wildfire Sauna Company with my two sons (both University Bio Majors). While I'm a retired professional firefighter of 25 years and carpenter for over 35 years, I've had a passion for health and wellness since the age of 20. I was a NASM Certified personal trainer for much of my adult life.

However, I feel that there is more to wellness than just exercise and eating right. Studies have shown the multitude of health benefits to sauna use, especially with the onslaught of environmental toxins we are exposed to daily. Sauna use will always be a pivotal part of my life, and I want to share it with you and your family and friends.

Our mobile sauna is designed to keep the heat in more efficiently than your typical barrel shaped sauna. It is insulated with natural wool fiber and built with only cedar. I chose the horse trailer design because the outer shell acts as a shield against the harsh winds of coastal New England, which means we burn way less wood than other mobile saunas. Installed is a Harvia Legend 240 SL stove which is already the most efficient on the market.  Seating is designed to be comfortable with plenty of elbow space.

Our name is inspired by my favorite childhood song. The 1975 song "Wildfire" by Michael Martin Murphy tells the story of a pony named Wildfire and the young woman that rode him down Yellow Mountain.

The ritual

01

Enter the heat

Step into the cedar sauna. The Harvia Legend 240 pushes the temperature past 180°F. Breathe deep. Let the heat do its work.

02

Plunge into the cold

Walk out and into the cold — the Atlantic, a freshwater pond, or the open air. The contrast is the whole point.

03

Repeat

Three to four cycles. Each round deeper than the last. You'll leave feeling like a different person.

Why it works

Reduces stress and anxiety

Heat triggers a flood of endorphins and lowers cortisol. The cold snap that follows sharpens focus and lifts mood.

Accelerates muscle recovery

Alternating heat and cold flushes lactic acid, reduces inflammation, and speeds up the repair cycle after hard training.

Improves circulation

Heat dilates blood vessels; cold constricts them. The repeated cycle trains your cardiovascular system like a workout.

Deepens sleep

A sauna session in the afternoon or evening drops your core temperature afterward — the same mechanism that triggers deep sleep.

Builds mental resilience

Choosing the cold when every instinct says no is a practice. Do it enough and it changes how you handle discomfort everywhere.
